Things Not Seen 1

1. What do you think of Bobby's parent's decision to leave him home alone? Does anything make you worrisome or suspicious of this choice?

  1. 1. I think the decision that Bobbys Parents made wasnt good. For example, if you son turns invisible you dont leave him home alone just to go to work. It makes me kinda worrisome becuase anyone could just knock on the door and bobby could slip and then thats the end of that secret.

  2. I think it was and wasn't. By this I mean that it didn't really matter if they stayed home or not because even if Bobby had decided to sneak out or do something that he shouldn't, he's invisible! Nobody would see him anyway so what's the point. It's not that they don't care because they do. It"s just that they have to work also and I believe it was kind of frustrating them not being able to see him. I think they were kind of indecisive on what to do. Still though I think one of they parents should have stayed home with him. It doesn't make me suspicious or worrisome at all.

  3. Jane- Great entry! just 1 question though, How could Bobby slip and expose himself? I mean he's invisible. Even if he said something it would probably scare the person into thinking the house was haunted. What do you think?

  4. Thanks.

To answer your question- i think that maybe even if he did slip that maybe someone might report something thats why i added it. But thanks for asking. I guess it did make me go back for a little.

  5. I don't think it's a very good idea to leave Bobby alone. I mean, he just turned invisible, Spontaneously! Like he said in the book, " How is this not an emergency!?" I think he might get into a little bit of mischeif.

  6. I agree with Jane. He could somehow slip in over his head. But i also agree with Gabby, he's invisible. Although, what if, he somehow was exposed?

  8. I really think that it was kinda o.k for him to be left alone. Like Gabby said, it doesn't really matter if he somehow kinda had to get out, I mean he's invisible. And like Griffin said, he'd probably get into a bit of trouble. It doesn't really worry me or put me in suspense.

  9. Since he is invisible, he woudl get exited so i would have gessed that he would have gone somewhere. it is kind of simple, so i would shallenge him be threatening to ground him

  10. That was a stupid thing to do because leaving a teenage boy alone in a house thats invisible is pretty stupid.

  11. 1. I think the parents decision to let Bobby stay home is acceptable. Bobby is invisible so he can do whatever he wants without being caught. I was suspicious when Bobby read the note his mom left him and when she said, "You can find something else to do." I didn't know what Bobby would do and if it was the right or wrong decision.

  12. Jason,
How was their decision stupid? What would Bobby do that qualifies as stupid?

  13. I hope the next group provides us greater depth than some have expressed in these entries. It is always important to go back and read what others have written to you and to respond. Thinking does not stop with an answer...it should lead you to another question.

  14. Courtney they should know he might run away he is a teenage boy that is invisible. Also in your blog you said it was acceptable to leave him alone, what if he got some side effects and ended up in public naked!?

  15. 1. I think that it was a bad idea to leave Bobby home. His parents were trusting him, but they probably knew he would do something. Right when his parents say that he would be staying home alone I knew something was going to happen.

  16. Jason/Courtney:

Jason, I agree with what you have said, but, like Courtney said, how is that stupid? To what level are you calling stupid?

Courtney, what would your decision be if you were the parents? Would you still be saying "Oh, that is perfectly fine" or would you be worrying but you still do it because you trust him?

  17. I think it was a terrible, courageous idea to leave Bobby home alone while they left. Bobby's parents really must have trusted him. I agree with Stephen, when they said they were leaving him home alone I knew something was up.

  18. I wonder how the story would of been changed if they took him with them.

  19. Jason,
I don't know what would happen if he was naked in public, but it would add some interesting parts in the book. That would be a horrifying sight. A half visible and half invisible person.

  20. Stephen,
I would be worrying, but I would still let him do what he wants. There would be nothing I could do about it because he could be half way to China and I wouldn't know.

  21. Kaci,
If the parents to Bobby with them the story would change big time. Bobby wouldn't have met the blind girl and that would take away from the book. Hope that helps.

  22. Kaci,
I was just checking the older posts having already read the book. Your idea of if his parents had taken him with them would have changed this story more than you can imagine. I don't want to give anything away but not knowing the blind girl would have turn teh tables dramaticly in the novel.

  23. I think that Bobby's parents choice to leave him alone was selfish. If anything like that happened to my kid I would stay home with him. And yes it kind of does make me worrisome because what if they frequently do this? I would get really bored from being home all day.

  24. 1. I think that the choice of Bobby's parents was the only choice that they had and I am not worrisome or suspicious at all. I cannot think of anywhere else that he could have gone.

  25. 1. I thought that this meant after the accident, if it doesn't then I think that Bobby was mad at his dad and he did not want to go with him in the car ride. No I am not suspicious or worisome still.

  26. Lily,
How is this choice selfish Bobby was mad at his dad and he went upstairs. You are probably talking about when his parents went to work while he was sleeping, if so then I agree with you!! :) :):):)
